My first amazing travelling on 2012. It was an amazing opportunity to go to Australia on February! Wow, even it’s not one of my dream destination place but it was a phenomenal experience. You and everyone should go there and feel the different atmosphere around us.

Australia has different weather than Indonesia. It was February which was supposed to be ‘summer’ but quite surprising because it’s so cold and breeze out there! Thanks God, on the very last chance I decided to bring my thin jacket. Yeah, but that’s it (then I was freezing when visiting Churchill Island to see penguins).

In Australia, I would go to Melbourne for the first three days then extend to Sydney. Tough I could went there by Singapore Airlines (which’s expensive airlines) but I choose to go by Qantas because it’d transit in Sydney! Yeaaayyy!! So I just paid US$150 extra for it (almost double payment if I use another airlines).

Arrive on international terminal in Sydney, we should to run to domestic terminal for our next plane to Melbourne. But Qantas, I relieved, was one of the prominent Australian airways. They had their own terminal with great transportation facilities. It’s only took 10 minutes to transfer then grab our next flight.

Melbourne, Victoria.
Yeah, it’s Melbourne! I saw a wide yellow field from above when my plane landed. I felt the ‘wow’ effect on my heart. I’m a natural lover, so it’s a good chance for me to visit Melbourne where natural comes in the first place. The city itself was quite comfortable, few people around eventough it was weekend. The city itself full of ancient building and also parks as similar as European cities.

But the most wonderful experience in Melbourne for me, after the old building and amazing parks, are Phillips Island and Churchill Island where we could find warm yellow farm with horses, cows, sheeps and others near the sea. The wonderful combination between yellow gras, green tree, brown cows, windmill and blue sea behind were TOTALLY AMAZING!!! I was like freeze for awhile looking into this beautiful place. You could also met with koala but you couldn’t touch them because of they slept on the tree almost all day long. Ha!

You only need to cross the bridge to go to Churchill Island where we would like to see little penguin, the smallest one. We should sat on the beach side and kept silent. Nobody allowed to talk or took pictures because the penguin would be scared of them. Penguin was scare with light and noise. So unfortunately, I don’t have good pictures of their little cute body shape. Please enjoy the Melbourne’s beautiful pictures here 🙂

Sydney
After three beautiful days on Melbourne, we splitted our group. Me with 3 friends of mine (Alex, Deska & Devi) went to Sydney on one group. Sydney has different culture than Melbourne. Eventough Melbourne and Sydney located in the same region, Victoria, but they had different weather and also heritage. The weather in Sydney was warmer, even I didn’t get any sweat walking around the city. Sydney’s people more attractive and busy, they fullfil the streets, busses and trains. It’s so different than Melbourne where everybody looks like hide in their home.

The most famous tourism object in Sydney was Opera House! I saw Opera House in commercial tv, in magazine, website, etc. It was a big opportunity to see how was the real Opera House. We walked through buildings and parks, some of them were unique and beautiful such as St. Mary’s Chatedral with flower blooming in front of the door, Hyde Park with extravaganza water fountain.

I saw the map and conclude that it’s quite close to walk from Hyde Park to Opera House. We just need to across some parks and bulding, also we could visit New South Wales Museum (the famous one) on the way there. We were walking into Royal Botanical Garden because it’s said the center point in the northest area of this garden.

After walk for several hours, we realized that it was to faraway. It;s impossible to reach the building because we’re to tired and hungry (in Bahasa we called in ‘gempor’). We tried to find busses or taxis, but unfortunately it was on thw wrong side to find anything. We almost cried for last. But with our last power, we could make it! Warning: don’t even try to wallk if you weren’t sure about map’s measurement!!!

Beside these, you could also visit Darling Hrbour (where teenagers walk around the harbour and smile each other), Sydney Tower (to see the Sydney’s view, better to go some times before and after the sunset and Bondi Beach (the most famous beach in Australia, but there was nothing special comparing to Indonesia’s beaches – ‘ya iya laaahhh’). I went to Sydney exactly on Valentine’s Day so every couples looks like happy to go out to have some dinner on restaurant or on the ship. Most of them using black dress and shirt/tuxedo, they brought flowers (from their boyfriend/husband) and also wine. It was nice and fun to watch them around and gossiping about their beautiful or awkward clothes ;p

If you had extra money, you can also take some tour to Blue Mountain (on June you can see snow white here, but it took your full day and also AUS$150) and also whale watching (crazy adventure but sooo expensive, about AUS$90). Unfortunately, I didn’t have extra money to go there. I wish I could, perhaps on the other vacation 🙂

Please enjoy these view and hope you happy as happy I am right now!
